    JKA Bangalore Dojo Keiko

    The first day of JKA Bangalore Dojo Keiko went well with about 26 students attending the two sessions training hard with Somnath Palchowdhury Sensei. The highlights of the training were the fundamentals of JKA Karate, TachiWaza, Correct Form and Footwork, KihonWaza involving various drills, GohonKumite and its principles. The involvement of the parents in smooth running of the event needs special mentioning.The warm hospitality of the host instructor Rajarshi Ray was exceptional.

    The second day of the keiko in JKA Bangalore Dojo got over followed by KYU rank promotion tests held exclusively for the JKA members. JKA Passports, Kyu Certificates have been issued that came from the JKA Headquarters, Tokyo beside Camp Participation Certificates for all.
    Today Somnath Sensei covered ido-kihon that are required for up to 7th kyu level, pushed the students for correct stepping while moving in various direction, Kata: Taikyoku-Shodan and Heian-Shodan and Gohon-Kumite. Sensei stressed on developing correct attitude and spirit that is expected while training Gohon-Kumite. Sensei spent a good half an hour time teaching the students the correct way and protocol while entering and leaving the dojo, the correct way to do Seiza, the correct and different ways of standing Rei (bow) and the reasons behind these.
    Sensei surprised all present with a brief Tamashiwari demonstration by breaking wooden blocks that created great excitement amongst all present.
    There were many parents and grand parents were present as it’s Sunday and have expressed their high satisfaction towards the two days keiko.

    2nd day of 2019 JKA INDO-BANGLA WINTER CAMP

    Few of the randomly clicked photos of the 2nd day of “2019 JKA INDO-BANGLA WINTER CAMP” in Kolkata, India.

    Sum 300 members participated from Coochbihar, Jalpaiguri, Burdwan, Nadia, Hooghly, Howrah, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas and Kolkata inspite of the uncertainty of transportation in Kolkata and districts due to a political rally and meeting scheduled today. Thank you to the dojo instructors and about 250 parents that were present today supporting and inspiring all.

    The program started at sharp 12noon today with the presence of Mr. Masayuki Taga, Hon’ble Consul General of Japan in Kolkata as the Chief Guest. Mr. Taga has highlighted the introduction of Japanese martial arts in India by Rabindranath Tagore that introduced “Jujutsu” in Shantiniketan by Japanese teacher Mr. Takagaki. He has highly appreciated the JKAWF INDIA Kolkata for constant focus of the organisation on the traditional martial arts (Budo) aspect of Japanese Karate-Do and culture through regular training and continued teachings by Japanese guest karate teachers in Kolkata. He advised the students to visit Japan the epicentre of karate and experience learning from the source.

    To handle the big number of participation today Shiina Shihan has devided the class in to two groups and asked Somnath Palchowdhury Sensei and Sona Ghosh Sensei to teach as well in turn.Shiina Shihan has focussed on teching the fundamentals of JKA Kihon Waza, Bunkai and various drills to develop Jiyu-Kumite while Somnath Sensei focussed on correct form for Kyu grades and Kata Kanku-Dai for Dan grades.

    Overall a great day training and sweating together.

    1st Day of 2019 JKA INDO-BANGLA WINTER CAMP

    Glimpses of the First Day (16th Jan) of “2019 JKA INDO-BANGLA WINTER CAMP” in GUWAHATI, Assam hosted by JKAWFIK ASSAM in association with JKAWF INDIA Kolkata and conducted by KATSUTOSHI SHIINA SHIHAN from JKA HQ.There were international representatives from BHUTAN too that joined JKA recently.In the first day Shiina Shihan grinded the participants through various fundamental aspects of kihon waza and a great deal of kumite drills.Thank you Mobarak Ali and his team of whole family, students and parents of the students that are instrumental in hosting this prestigious camp in Guwahati.

    2nd day of the “2 Day JKA Karate Seminar”

    Over 160 members attended at the second day of the “2 Day JKA Karate Seminar” in Phulia, Nadia, West Bengal on the last day of the year. The second day classes were conducted by Somnath Palchowdhury Sensei covering fundamentals of JKA karate, Heian Katas, Tekki Shodan and Gohon Kumite.Total 111 students successfully passed their rank promotion tests at the end of the gasshuku.Great arrangements, spirited performances and 100% learning attitude.Congratulations to all involved in Phulia.
