15th JKA Asia-Oceania Federation Seminar, Bangkok: The first session of the second day concluded successfully. Ogura sensei took us through various kihon-waza that are related to Kata JION. Once satisfied, he almost killed us with repeated practice of Jion. The whole kata and parts of that were repeatedly displayed by Naka sensei in his masterful form in slow motion and then in correct speed and power. Naka sensei’s executions of certain complicated moves in extra slow motion are exceptional. Ogura and Omura sensei have mentioned many common mistakes that are being made by many of us while Naka sensei acted the wrong way of doing things too for us. Anand sensei’s translation was surely very helpful, all throughout.
At the second part of the Session we were revised through the JKA Rules for Competition (Shobu Ippon); both theory and practical. This session was majorly leaded by Naka sensei. A great educational day indeed. There is a JKA Party tonight.
The JKA 15th Asia-Oceania Federation Conference & Seminar, Bangkok 6th – 9th December, 2018 Sports Authority of Thailand, Main Building, 25th Floor, Bangkok.
A few pictures after the first day’s seminar here in Bangkok. We had 2 sessions today and 2hrs each session. The main teachers were Ogura Sensei and Naka Sensei from the Headquarters. There were also present Omura Sensei and Nishimura Sensei both directors of JKA Asia-Oceania Federation while Anand Ratna sensei helping translating the tips, advices and recommendations of the Japanese teachers, for all.
The teachers covered KATA Bassai-Dai, Kanku-Dai and Enpi in great details. We were treated with some brilliant Bunkai of certain moves of each kata. A great day with great learning experience and camaraderie with the delegates from many Asia-Pacific countries. A big announcement made of holding the 2nd JKA Asia-Oceania Championship to be held in Bangkok in August 2019.
